OPERATIONS & RETAIL MANAGER
Job Type: Part-time (20-25 hours/week)

Position Overview:
Threshold Arts is seeking an Operations and Retail Manager to oversee the daily operations of our downtown retail storefront and the administrative functions of our event venue, The Chateau. This organized, proactive individual will be responsible for managing systems and processes, coordinating staff and volunteers, providing outstanding customer service, and supporting marketing and communications efforts. Every day will look a little different — flexibility, efficiency, and a positive, team-oriented mindset are essential.
This role combines the day-to-day management of a vibrant arts-focused retail space with operational support for Threshold Arts programs and community events. Candidates with a passion for the arts, small business management, event coordination, and community engagement will thrive in this dynamic role.
Primary Responsibilities:
Retail Storefront Management
Manage inventory and oversee merchandising of the retail storefront.
Manage point-of-sale (POS) systems and generate sales and commission reports.
Facilitate artist memberships, consignment agreements, and art intake processes.
Maintain communication with member artists; request new inventory and provide merchandising feedback.
Recruit new consignment artists in collaboration with leadership.
Manage storefront staffing and scheduling.
Promote storefront artists and offerings through social media and marketing platforms.
Identify advertising, promotional, and collaboration opportunities to increase storefront visibility.
Operations and AdministrationServe as the first point of contact for Threshold Arts and the Chateau — greeting visitors, answering phones, and responding to general emails.
Assist with scheduling meetings, managing event registration, and tracking payments.
Maintain physical and digital files, including vendor quotes and event documentation.
Support basic bookkeeping tasks in coordination with the Bookkeeper, including invoices and credit card receipt tracking.
Order and maintain office and retail supplies; organize storage areas.
Manage customer and donor/member databases, and assist in documenting donations and fulfilling recognition benefits.
Event SupportManage event ticketing, registration, and guest check-in processes.
Recruit and coordinate event volunteers and storefront ambassadors.
Assist with event planning, setup, staffing, and execution as needed.
Invoice and track payments for rental events.
Communications and MarketingMaintain and update the Threshold Arts website and social media platforms in collaboration with Communications Coordinator.
Collect and create content for marketing campaigns, including monthly newsletters in collaboration with Communications Coordinator.
Support the creation of visually consistent marketing materials (basic graphic design skills preferred).
Ensure all marketing collateral meets brand standards and effectively promotes programs and storefront activities.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, communications, arts management, or related field preferred.
2+ years of experience in retail, event coordination, or customer service.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
High level of professionalism, discretion, and attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
Self-motivated, empathetic, and a creative problem-solver with a proactive attitude.
Comfortable working both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Familiarity with Adobe Express and Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) preferred.
Experience with Square website editing and content management systems preferred.
Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
